Shared Coordinates not aligned with linked files

I have a project with multiple buildings linked in a Revit site model. The architectural models for all of the buildings are linked in this site model and the coordinates from the site model are published to the architectural models. Those architectural models are then given to the sub consultants and they acquire the shared coordinates from the architectural models.

I had to move one of the buildings 1'-0" to the South. I did this in he site model and then saved the new position back to the architectural model.

When I opened the architectural model, I expected to see all of the linked files off by 1'-0". Instead some of the linked files were (MEP) and some where not (structural). Any idea why this is?

Hi @Anonymous

For your structural model, try to"relocate project" command under "manage" ribbon.
Check your grids/levels to"shared" in their properties, not as "project".
Align the new level, or move in plan.

Let me know if this resolves your issue.

Have you opened and checked the structural model to see if it actually acquires the shared coordinate from the architectural model?

It sounds like somebody linked the MEP model into the Architectural model, and shared the coordinates back. It sounds like somebody linked the Structural model into the Architectural model and did NOT share the coordinates back.

You are correct. Moving a building is the best way to prove who acquired the shared coordinates and who did not. All models where linked into the architectural model before the coordinates were acquired.  Everything is aligned now......Thanks.

Attached is the typical direction I give to sub consultants for addressing shared coordinates in the BIM Execution Plan. Please feel free to comment.

In the life after you have acquired the shared coordinates section, I would probably add "PIN THE LINKED ARCH MODEL AND TURN OFF SELECT PINNED ELEMENTS AND NEVER TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB YOU MORON!!!"
