Shadow show incorrect on ramp

Hi Pros,

I created ramp from Bsm 1 to Level 1, when i turned on the shadow, it treated my ramp as a flat floor slab, the result is the shadow now looks odd. Did i missed something?

It is just the sun settings... The shadow is castes based on the sun position and the outcome varies witt angle between the element whose shadow is being castes and the plane onto which the shadow is being projected...
Either...
1. Go to the sun settings (the sun path tool on the visibility & desplay options bar - below drawing window) and change the sun location

OR
2. Change the level of the base floor/workplane the shadow is being projected on

How can your ramp be "a flat floor slab"? If it is flat it is not a ramp, and of course, shadows on a flat slab won't look like shadows on a ramp.

in this case go to the plan view >> properties palette >> view range >> change view depth to level below or unlimited (it could be that the shadow is not being casted on any plane/surface)

BUT from where I see it in the Image of the plan view and the angle of the sun .. The shadow is being casted underneath the ramp so u can't see it in plan view with that angle of the sun (excuse the scribling...hard to do it on a mobile phone)

On the 3D view you have set a different angle for the sun...shadows are casted from the other direction

@Alfredo_Medina @RDAOU

I can confirm this odd behavior.  It seem like Revit show ramps as their plan projection and not true 3D on floor plan views.

@Anonymous  You may need to to use a floor in lieu of ramp of you need the shadow to show correctly.

Good to know. Thanks. So, this is one more thing to add to the list of things that Ramps don't do or don't do correctly. 😞

Indeed ramps by tool do not cast shadows in plan views not even affected by the cut plane 🙂

More reason to convert them to generic models 😛 I know you liked that trick ToaND

Still have this issue in 2024. Not just with ramps but all sort of geometry.
However it looks like instead of fixing it autodesk just embraced this and they claim that shadows are just not supported at all in plan views. See link below. Very disappointing...
