Setting View Range Extents As The Level Above

I have a model with a rough history, so have resorted to manually setting the referencing levels for several views as the "level above" has been changing on a weekly basis. However for level where the desired level is the level above, I can't select it as the set level. There is a high chance that the levels are still changing, is does anyone have a work around for this?

Sorry cannot help with a workaround but the reason you cannot select a level in the view range is because there isn't a plan view associated with that level. Create a plan view and the level will be selectable in that list.

I do have other levels/plan views but if I select anything besides level above then the range will stay locked even if other are added between but as far as I can see that can't be done for the level currently associated as "Level Above".
