Selecting certain objects that I wish to link from AutoCAD to Revit

When selecting a file from AutoCAD that has multiple entities (in my case floor plans) and want to link it to Revit, is there a way to select one of them in AutoCAD so that when it views in Revit, all of them don't show up?

In AutoCAD, I tried creating views/viewports, and also tried isolating the ones I didn't want to see. But, all to no avail.

Any solutions?

You have the ability to turn on/off layers through VG Overrides:Imported Categories. Is this what you're looking to do?

The floor plans use the same layers, so turning any of them off would hide layers I wish to see. I attached some pictures to hopefully give you a sense of what I'm trying to achieve.

When using the Link CAD option, I select "current view only", which one would assume that the last view in AutoCAD would be what appears in Revit, but all of the plans end up showing anyways.

I'm new to Revit as well, so I'm not sure if having everything in the blue viewport (when you hover over the imported objects) would affect things.

"Current View Only" means to put the LINK in the current REVIT view only -- not all the views in the project.

My previous post indicated that you have control of the ACAD layers that are visible in the Revit view. Knowing this, wouldn't it follow that you could place those ACAD elements - that you want to isolate in a particular Revit view - on unique layer within the ACAD drawing and then re-link it? ...And then, through VG Overrides, turn off the Link's layers that you don't want to see in the Revit view?

Get it?

You have to create layers in AutoCAD and assign to objects. Turn off/freeze layers you wish not to see in Revit. When import/link CAD files in Revit, you have the Options to only get the Visible layers, or manually pick Layers you want.

as I understood you have created all the floor levels in AutoCAD in one file. I would advice you to do it in different files with External Reference so to be able to keep the same X-Y coordinate for all floors.

In a case like yours ,I'll split the file into a few files , moving the Floor Plans to the same coordinate ( in AutoCAD) and , after that insert into Revit.

Then , instead to import one big file a number of times as levels , you will import several different smaller files with the same coordinate.

I thought this was what I had to do, but wasn't sure if there was another more advanced way to get the plan seen without having to create multiple files.

Thank you for your time!
