I'm having problems with something that I thought was going to be very straight forward. I'm working on a large complex project and trying to find a solution for location/key plans. I have created a key plan with visibility parameters for the zones and it all works well.
I thought it would be very handy to indicate on the key plans where the sections are taken through. I have tried various families to get:
- a line (with ticks or arrows) whose length can be adjusted with shape handles (instead of only typing in length) as an instance parameter
- Text or label that stays with the end of the line and stays vertical (or at least readable) as an instance parameter (but changes at both end of the line), so that each section can be quickly labelled (maybe different family types?).
- The possibility of placing this family directly on to the sheet (to lay and rotate over the key plan as required - with the text at the correct scale).
I can manage most of these things separately or combine two but not all three. What families template am I best using?
I want this to be as easy as possible for the Revit users, so that a set standard can be maintained across sheets and projects. What other solutions do people use? Trying to manage dozens of live key plans with all but the correct section lines hidden was given up on long ago. Any suggestions please?
I have included a few resources below for Key Plans in Revit:

Thank you,
Thanks for your reply.
I've got a key plan working nicely, but it is the section line symbol that i'm struggling with.
How do others deal with this? Do you not indicate the section lines on your key plans.
Maybe I'll just get them to draw lines on!
Any other suggestions before I give up?
