section display issue

I am working on a project that has some sweeps for electrical equipment.  When I cut a section through this "model in place" component that is made as an electrical equipment category it does not display as I would like.  See section.jpg image attached.

Is this a function of the way this specific category is displayed?  If I make a new sweep and make it as a generic model category it displays as expected.  I guess then I have two questions then.  The second being. Can I change the category of these model in place objects?  I do not want to recreate them all just so I can show them properly in section.  Thanks.

Regards Peter.

PS - in the section, it is strange that it looks correct on one side but not the other.  It is like it is cutting the view farther to the bottom of the screen and seeing the end of the sweep, and then not seeing any of the geometry that is cut on the other side.  Unfortunately that is not something I can adjust in the section itself.  see section2.jpg image attached.

Here is the file. Ideally I want the geometry of the sweep to be shown in the section view.  It should look like the first image on the left hand side.  As I said I believe that section is showing the elevation of the end of the sweep and not the actual section, because it doesn't show the other side.  Thanks.

Regards Peter.

Some family categories are non-cuttable. Electrical Equipment is one of them. HERE a list of some other family categories that are non-cuttable.

In your project change the family category to, for example, generic and see the difference.

Hi Peter,

Issue:

After creating a section view some of the families in the section view are not cut while other geometry is as expected.

Causes:

This is as designed behaviour for certain family types.

The following family types are not cuttable:
  • Balusters
  • Detail Items
  • Electrical Equipment
  • Electrical Fixtures
  • Entourage
  • Furniture
  • Furniture Systems
  • Lighting Fixtures
  • Mechanical Equipment
  • Parking
  • Planting
  • Plumbing Fixtures
  • Specialty Equipment

Solution:

If you wish to cut through one of these families, edit the family and change its type value to a type that is not listed as "Non Cuttable"

I have attached a screen cadst to change the faily catergory.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys - that is perfect.  I figured it was something like that but completely forgot to look in the family category and parameters area.

Cheers Peter.
