section cuts printing halftone

We have a couple of projects started in 2016, our section cuts that work in the rest of the projects we have had since version 2009, suddenly print halftone.  The lines with the problem are on subcategory: "Section Marks".  So we changed those lines to "Wide Lines" and it seems to be ok.  Do we just never use "Section Marks" again and go updated several families?   Anybody have any ideas on what is going on in 2016?

default section annotations are under the category of "sections."  If you created a new subcategory, try changing the line type/weight at the parent level ("Sections") instead of the subcategory level.

Let me try to clarify, if you open an out of the box section family, and select one of the lines, the ribbon calls the "linetype" a Subcategory, the line is on "Section Marks".  I am 99% sure we did not create this...

i understand....

within the revit project, this annotation would be classified as section marks in general.  You can adjust the lineweight and color to what you want.  This should hold for your current revit project.

We messed with all of that at the begining, nothing made any difference.  There isn't even an option to halftone Section Marks that I can see, which makes this issue even stranger.  We have given up and just changed the lines from "Section Marks" to "Wide Lines" in the family itself and everything prints ok.  We now have to go into every Section type family and do this, gotta love those yearly upgrades!  Probably won't ever mess with these "Release 2" upgrades they have started doing, we have enough work catching up once a year with issues.

very strange...what if you create a view template of a view that has the section mark looking the way you want and then use this view template in all your other views.

that's an idea, but so far, we have no views that print correctly in 2016.

so open revit 2015 to a revit model that has a section mark the way you want...save the view as a view template...use transfer project standards to copy that view template from the 2015 revit model into your 2016 model...and your master template for future use.

tried it, it didn't work.  Once brought into 2016, it gets messed up.

we have changed the object styles every way possible and it makes no difference unfortunately.

ok, I have checked object styles again and found that our section marks was on green, I changed it to black and it seems to have fixed it!  We have a lot of things with colors including the section tail which we have green but it prints fine.  This is something that has been changed in 2016 though, as everything before this has been fine, on the green color.  I appreciate the help to both of you, who both pointed me to the object styles, thanks!

I am still not sure or happy with why random things like this get changed every year, I don't get it.
