Save or not save the survey file after moving it and acquiring the coordinates?

Which choice should I choose?

The depends on if you want the new co-ordinates to update to your linked models, or do you want to undo moving the survey?

Are you sure you were acquiring and not publishing coordinates?

YES, I was acquiring the coordinates

I do not want to change the survey file itself. but I want to keep the survey file's new location in the linked model (that is why I moved it) and I want the model to be in the correct location through acquiring the coordinates from the survey file.

Short answer, the bottom option - Disable...

When you link a DWG and move/rotate it to align with your model (move the "world" under the "building") and then Acquire Coordinates that message asks you (when you Save your project) if you want to pass the positioning information to the DWG file in the form of a Named UCS (user coordinate system). This allows us to export from Revit to DWG using Project Origin and then the AutoCAD user can set the Named UCS (Revit60-DefaultLocation) before linking our export. However if we export from Revit using the Shared Coordinate system (the reason we acquired coordinates) there is no need for the Named UCS to be created and saved to the DWG file. The developers provided a way to deal with either situation but "normally" we don't want to alter the DWG file.

I usually manually disable the sharing for the DWG (via Properties) before getting around to Saving the project

My question is if disable the shared positions, will the Revit model still carry the correct geographic data meaning if we random check some spots' coordinates, they will be consistent with the original survey dwg file?  That is the purpose to acquire the coordinates.

Yes, Acquire Coordinates adjusts the Shared Coordinate system to align with the WCS of the DWG file you selected. Disabling the Shared Coordinates status for the DWG afterward does not undo that. It merely prevents Revit from saving a Named UCS to the DWG.

Acquire coordinates does not alter the link so Revit should not ask you to save the link.

It does if you move or rotate the linked DWG and then Acquire Coordinates...or did in past releases.
