I have several living walls in my project that are approx. 7m high x 5m long. At the moment I have only finished one as a model to then insert but it is so slow at performing any alterations or change of views that I am concerned about creating the other walls in the same manner. There are a lot of plants there and I guess it is perhaps just too much for my pc to cope with when on the realistic setting. I haven't got a bad PC ( i7 6800k with 32Gb RAM ) so was wondering if there is a better way to create the living wall so that it uses less power to view/alter when in realistic mode - yes I know I could go to wireframe but it gets a bit confusing due to shear number of plants.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know as its spoiling my enjoyment of creating the design!!
You don't need to see all the plants in the glorious realistic visual style when working with the design. Furthermore, you can use a simple place holder family in lieu of the actual RPC family when working with the model, and only swap them out with the RPC when you actually need to create a rendering.
Placeholder. A temporary family with a minimum geometry, for instance: a box, a cube. Or you can simply change the view to Hidden or Shaded instead of Realistic.
Hi @Anonymous
A living wall is a cool idea!
Yes, repeating these elements causes a slowdown. Consider using merged images using a photo editor in place of actual plant family and in unused camera angles.
You can also consider using something like a greenscreen model
