Sweep Profile

Hi,

I'm having a melt down as stressed trying to finish my degree model and can't seem to get the attached profile to work as a sweep.  Obviously doing something wrong but can't work it out.  I get it to the below image but then it says can't create the sweep.  Using Revit 2019.

I don't have 2019 now but our profile looks awfully complex.  It may fail even it is a closed loop.  Simplify it.

I'll bet you have an over-lapping line somewhere in the Profile Family.

In addition to the other replies--are you trying to sweep an angled/sloped or curved wall profile? It's a bit hard to tell from your screenshot.

I have tried to simplify it but still not working. I'm trying to create a perspective view of the profile so you can see the section and its sides.  The sweep is on a curved roof and overall is a complex coping strip/edge to the standing seam roof.  Not sure how I can easily check if I have double lines @barthbradley?

Just to check--I'm assuming you are using the Roof Fascia tool?

If so, the loaded Profile cannot have any overlapping lines--Revit will not throw an error message if there are any such lines.

Edit the Profile, and when in Sketch mode--delete each line and see if there is a second one underneath it.

The simpler profile had a hidden line but it hasn't made a difference.  I was creating it by component, model in place, sweep and then select the curve I wanted to follow and add the profile.  Still not working though!

The whole profile is to go on the edge of the roof ( extruded ) which is standing seam, although when the render takes place doesn't have the ridges so I guess I will have to add them as another profile?

-Fascia Tool should be able to sweep along the roof with the arrow in your image.

-The roof with the cut edge in the front will be much more difficult!

-There are e few ways to create a standing seam roof--it depends on how "literal" you want/need to get on your presentation and construction drawings/details.:

-One is to use a Curtain System applied to a Mass for a Roof, with Custom Mullion Profiles (standing seams) and Curtain Panels ( sheet metal). This will give a true 3D representation in all views.

-A Model Pattern will also be visible in all views--but it will only show "lines" for the standing seams.

-Take a look here: https://youtu.be/YfILPy61lGM and also Google search the subject for more examples.
