After this last update of Revit 2020 (2020.2.4) when I change a text value inside a room that's inside a group it ask me to fix the group or ungroup... any thoughts? I'm just trying to change the Floor Finish parameter it's a simple string value! Why a thing that was working isn't working anymore?

It would be hard to tell without inspecting the groups you have there. It could be an attached detail group, it could be something else...Why it didn't show before and now it does also could be due to various reasons. Sometimes the error would be there and you wouldn't even know that it is there until you poke it
If you cannot share the model, Can you maybe expand that error and check the IDs of the faulty elements?

about your answer... it wasn't happening until this last revit update! I tried removing the faulty items but it changes all the time, sometimes is a room, sometimes is a room separation, and then it goes on!
remember in a past version that when you duplicated a type of a family inside a group it crashed, it's happening now with rooms I think.
Is the nested group and overall group appear in multiple level? Group can be very unstable if you place a room inside a group. What makes it complex is when you have nested group within a group. One thing you can try is go to the browser and search for that group. Place it in your level. Edit the group and change the value. See if that resolved your nested group issues.
It is hard to tell without inspecting the model. I am using the same version you are using and trying to replicate the error you have there was not possible no matter how I grouped them. There is something in the groups you have there which Revit is not digesting...I skimmed through the release notes of the update but couldn't pick up anything which could have caused that...PS: By the way you can edit a nested group without editing the parent...
Apart from the above I would like to emphasize that there is absolutely nothing wrong with nesting groups as long as one understand the dependencies between Revit element, knows how groups function, which elements to group together and what type of groups are nest-able and which aren't. We have used nested groups on both hospital and hotel project and never had issues at all.

Guys... thanks a lot for the feedback... i'll keep diggin and when I find a solution I'll post here!
I ran into some tests here
1) ungroupping from the main group (Level group) and then maintining the secondary groups (Apartments) the editing function works
2) is not an issue with the last update... I checked in the 2020.2 (not 2020.2.4) and got the same issue.
3) Tried auditing the file and didn't got any difference.
The error is "different positions relative to the group origin" - Googled it and didn't find any good alternative
Working with groups in revit is something that goes beyond my capacity sometimes... but it's like a necessary evil.
I don't have much time to understand exactly what's happening here, and then I'll ungroup the level groups and work with the apartment groups.
again.. thanks guys... I'll keep you informed.
have a nice day!
found this as well
I'll try it later and then give you guys a feddback
best regards
hey there... after a lot of testing and etc I could finally get rid of the problems.
I copied the group on the same level in a different position and then copied it again and pasted on different levels, then the "restrictions" simply vanished... it's nonsense!
it "resolved" my problem, but I have no specific answer to resolve it again.... just "copy to here, copy to there and maybe the restrictions/problems will vanish"
Thanks for all guys
have a nice day
Lucas
