Room Tags disappeared

Room tags (i.e., Room Name & Number) are showing on Floor plans, although not on Structural plans. How to show Room Tags on other plans (i.e., Structural, RCP, Electrical, etc.)?

There are many different reasons that the tags might not be showing up:

  • First and foremost, tags are view specific so just because you made them in one view, you have to create them again in another view.
  • Second big thing to check would be the Visibility Graphics of those view to make sure Rooms and Room Tags are turned on.
  • RCPs might not be cutting through the room itself so it's not "there" in that view.

Those are the first couple things I would check into.

Thank you and Visibility Graphics show the Room/Tags box checked. It appears that when I add Rm. Tags manually, I get an error message – Duplicate Room.

Odd. Do they show up when you toggle Reveal Hidden Elements in one of those views?

It doesn't sound like you are adding Tags. It sounds like you are adding Rooms if Revit is throwing up a Duplicate Room Error Message.

Make sure Rooms are turned on in VG in the other plans.

Then use Tag All>select your Room Tag, and it will tag all the rooms in a single click.

Thank you,

Not sure what you mean. As was stated earlier, tags are view specific. They need to be placed in each view that you need to see them in.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

If my post cleared things up, you should also give credit to everyone who said the same thing.

When it's an individual room only that somehow loses its label, type "RT" (room tag), and it should appear again when hovering over the small cross in middle of space.  This is something different than a visibility issue.

Thank you! This did the trick. I just needed to lower the RCP cut plane a bit, so it was cutting through the room and then my tags showed up 🙂
