Room Not Enclosed

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am working in Revit Architecture 2015.

I created rooms earlier, and everything is fine. I am not sure when the rooms were no longer enclosed, I discovered it because I am working on my door schedule. Suddenly the room is not enclosed. I have done the following:

-checked that all walls are "room bounding" <-- they are

-verified that a wall sits on the ground level <-- they do

-tried drawing room separation lines <-- even if i just draw a box around the "room" it won't enclose

-tried drawing walls <-- same as room separation lines

the room itself has the level as Level 1, an upper limit of a level above. No limit or base offset.

any assistance on why the room won't enclose would be great. There are 2 such rooms in my project.

Thanks

Are there any Linked models in the project? If so, are they set to Room Bounding?

Are there any Columns near the Rooms which are not enclosed? If so, are they set to Room Bounding?

There are no linked files in the model. There are some columns, but they are structural columns, so I can't set them to room bounding or not to be.

Delete the 2 rooms, and re-create them. Do they work properly?

i tried attaching the file, but i can't seem to make it small enough...

Are the rooms on the correct Phase? Any Design Options?

no design options, no phasing (everything on new construction). all on workset 1

What is Computation Height set to?

Have you tried changing settings for Room Computation in Architecture Tab>Room&Area ?

Try turning off Volume calc.

Try adjusting setting to wall face, core, etc.

Do you have sloping walls, ceilings or roofs above the floors where the rooms which are not enclose are located?

Any Plan Regions being used?

Also, create a new project, and see if Rooms behave normally.

Don't know if you solved the problem but i have found a strange way. I was experiencing the same problem as you do and i tried everything with no results. Then, i clicked room seperator and clicked one random room and everything turned to way it was. I don't know how but it worked.

Just had this same problem for all my rooms... I realized what happened... I created a very thick roof element to use in sections as a flood "zone" dashed line. When I changed the thick roof to non-room-bounding, all the rooms worked again. So if you experience this, try to check to see that you don't have an overlapping elements over the room.

I tried tom make room outside the building with room separator, and it works, also outside the building. But inside it does not work. I dont understand...

I had such issue and the problem was that room was between two floor layers (between structural floor and another floor with layers, meaning I had two floors).

Setting room to another level and/or changing computational height solved the issue.

Room Computational Height is tricky, read more information on it in my blog about room computational height, here.

I had the same problem with a project on all my rooms that were on roof level. To make it more clear what I mean is that on my roof I had some football pitches and some outdoor change. I made the mistake and instead of modelling a floor I modelled a roof (it was only concept stage) so that in sections would look thicker. Once I deleted the roof all my rooms went back to normal. Hope this is helpful.

I had same problem and considered all the suggestions above.. in the end I cut the <Area Boundary> lines to my clipboard, and then Paste <Aligned to Same Place.... the the areas showed again.. strange but it worked.

it's maybe an old thread but

the only problem is the elements that make up the room (walls etc) have to have room bounding option checked from the side panel left. After making sure all the walls have it checked then it works to put rooms.
