I'm using Revit Lt. I was wondering is there a way to connect a roof to walls at different heights without extending the walls  up to the roof. Example one wall height is 10' another 12' and another 14'. The issue I'm having is once I place the roof on a level it stays there. when I change the base of the roof it moves the entire roof up or down. With the example heights I gave. , I would like the main house wall level be 10' the front entry wall level be 14' and the covered back patio be 12'. With this being one solid roof. Can this be done in Revit Lt ? Can someone point me in the right direction?

I tried it again its not working for me. I cant get past the changing the offset base to match the height of the desire wall. Look at these image maybe this will help.

Use the Pick Wall tool to draw the roof boundary.  That will give you option to adjust Plate Offset from Base dimension.

You have to align the Roof to the Level you want to ( Level Roof) . If you use Pick Wall , the top plate of the Wall will be aligned with Level Roof, if you use other drawing tools the eave of the Roof will be aligned with Level Roof.

As for your Level Roof 1 , you don't really need it for Roof editing ...you need to know the difference between Roof and Roof 1 , in order to set Plate Offset from Base parameter

as simple as this seems i'm still getting the error message. Could it be that im using Revit Lt 2017 instead of full blown Revit? I did use the pick wall tool.

I found the problem. And it was, I was using a generic roof type. I had to choose a different type of roof for it to work.  thanks everyone for the help.

It was  successful done one time and now it doing the exactly the same thing again. the error message  could it be the program. I need some help

Remove the overhang...the image you posted above, on the properties Pallete u have 1' overhang make it 0....it might be conflicting with the offset ... You can reset it later as necessary but after you get the roof going.

when you watch @constantin.stroescu screencast try to have all settings and values identical first...then you can adjust as u wish and 1 at a time so you can see where and when the error occurs

Attached is a 2017 Revit file.  I have both options: one using pick walls with overhang, the other using pick line with offset.  They both work.  The only difference is controlling the plate height versus controlling the eave height.

Edit:  I would use one or another.  Try not mixing them into one roof.

Good Info. Helped resolve same issue we were having with roof. Another issue we found was the "Rafter Cut" could not be set to "Square Cut" and had to be set as Plumb Cut. Any thoughts on how to apply Square Cut after the roof is completed?
