Roof calculation problems

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

I want to calculate the different dimensions of a roof with slopings.
I modelled the roof as an family.
Now i have a problem with the dimensions out of the schedules.
The roof will be calculated flat, and not with the sloping.

What have I to do to get the right dimensions?

Greetings

If it is a family you can add all kinds of parameters. It is up to you to decide upon the value for these parameters. You can use formulas to get the proper values. If you are talking about slopes then you probably need do some trigonometry to get some values.

But it all depends on what you already have in your family and which dimensions/parameters you want to schedule.

If you have some screenshots and/or can upload the family with some explanations what exactly you would like to put in your schedule we might be of better assistance.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Id like to ask why have you modelled the roof as a family?

It would surely be much more functional if it were modelled as a Roof inside the project.

IF it must stay as a family element, you can do this:

If you want to calculate/report on the edge lengths, then you will have to add a SHARED PARAMETER inside the family to report the true length of the edges, which you could then add another parameter with a formula to calculate the SurfaceAreas of the sloped faces.

Hope this helps
