rhino to revit making tapography

I want to transfer the isohypse lines in the first picture to Revit. However, when I trim and import them into Revit, it does not open, saying the dimensions are too large. Is there an easy way to handle this? In the last picture, you can see the topography that appears when I directly import the isohypses from the first picture into Revit without trimming them. How can I cut or crop this topography in Revit? The area is too large for my needs, so I need to trim it either in Rhino or Revit. I would greatly appreciate your help!

First question is, could you post the error message you are getting? Then the second question would be…Are you using the plug-in Rhyno Inside Revit or are you exporting using grasshopper then importing in Revit?

 

Ideally you would do the trimming in Rhino then use the plug-in to bring it into Revit. If you do not want to do that, you can simply leave it as and use the section box to crop it in Revit. (Or crop region in 2D view)

 

Why is it prompting you for the large units this one cannot know unless you share the original file and the grasshopper diagram. You could be missing a node or using wrong units. From the images you posted it sure look huge (like a whole valley/town) so it could be that the topo is falling beyond the permissible 10miles radius/distance from internal origin.

I didn’t actually use Grasshopper. To transfer the file to Revit, I opened the Rhino file in AutoCAD, trimmed it there, and then uploaded it to Revit. However, I don’t think I’ve created a very accurate topography. I’m not sure where the problem is either. If I share the file with you, would you be able to check it? The file named "a1" is the trimmed version, while the other file is the original one. Thanks a lot.

Used the A1.dwg - You have a units discrepancy ... While the contour lines and levels are in meters, the DWGunits used are millimeters ie: if you link the cad with Auto-detect set it could cause scaling issues.

 

  • if you wish to use auto-detect, u need to first rectify the drawing units in Autocad from mm to m. (without scaling the content of the current drawing)
  • Instead of auto-detect use meters as drawing units as in GIF below

Preferable to fix the drawing units in the DWG though in order not to cause future confusion

I made this but i got an error. I put the error picture also I m gonna add the new file made. Actually I have a final exam. Still I have that topography problem.

That's not an error it is just a prompt telling you that it is far away from the origin and it placed it center to center. Revit has a 10miles radius limit. For precision reasons, all elements must be within the 10miles radius canvas so to say. The next step for would be to acquire coordinates from the DWG (ONLY IF its coordinates are correct and if one wishes to work with actual shared coordinates between all models...otherwise you can ignore that prompt)

 

I have checked the DWG and it again has wrong units most probably on the last step of the DWGUnits command you hit enter without typing "N" for it not to scale 😕 ...Refer to the previous post, you should find 2x DWG files. 

  • The whole site as you uploaded - Units fixed
  • The site izo dwg trimmed down for a few meters from the Building Boundary which you have in yellow
  • A1.dwg in Meters

Use either of them...link using origin to origin and auto-detect and you should get results as below - no prompts or errors

PS: what I noticed is that the coordinates between the A1.dwg and the ISO DWG.dwg are completely different ie: if you are being graded on this, you need to watch out for the right file with the right coordinates
