Revit stuck on splash screen

Revit 2018.2 has been working fine. Suddenly it has started locking up on the flash screen when it starts. I have tried repairing, re-installing, clean install, and resetting the licensing.

When the license is reset it will lock up when I select the enter serial number.

We ran into a similar problem recently.

Turned out it was related to a Windows 10 Update and our Trend Micro Security Software, which had to be disabled from Task Manager.

Revit then started up normally. I do not know if there has been a permanent solution to this yet.

Thank you for your response.

What windows update caused the problem? I have uninstalled the most recent updates but still having difficulties. I have not tried disabling Trend yet.

I don't know the exact Windows Update, but is was around 12-15-2017

Try disabling Trend and see if Revit will start.

So I uninstalled all windows updates from December and tried to disable Trend. I was able to disable Trend Micro Security Agent Monitor in the startup tab of task manager but am unable to end task on the Trend Micro Common Client Communication Service, Trend Micro Common Client real-time Scan Service and the Trend Micro Common Client Solution Framework.

After restarting Revit still will not start. I will need to contact our IT support company to completely disable Trend and will then try again.

Hi @burkemartin

Please see the solutions mentioned in the thread HERE and article HERE

According to this blog post, there is an issue with WebRoot antivirus:

Let me know if any of the above helps resolve your issue.

I have disabled the Trend Microsystems security and Revit functioned correctly.

I then checked for windows updates and installed all that it found and then tested Revit again and it still functioned correctly.

>From my research, and the forum posts, I determined that the Windows Fall Creator update, TrendMicro, and Webroot somehow all conflict and block the Autodesk programs.
Here are a couple of links that discuss this is more detail.
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/revit-16-17-amp-18-crashes-after-fall-creators...
Our IT company is now using Sophos anti-virus because they feel it is superior to both Trend and Webroot, is compatible with more applications and it doesn't take as many resources as running trend/webroot together. They did place some exceptions in it to ensure the Autodesk products had access to the resources it required.
Since they made this change we have not had any difficulties.
