Is it me or is revit incapable to create a profile for a stair open carriage?

Needed to create a generic family just to create 2 steel beams as stair carriages because stairs in revit are so very very limited 😞

See picture for created open stair combo:

nr 1: generic model face based with aray

nr 2: generic model 2 level based with 2 UPN180 profile

nr 3: railing family with UPN80 profile

There is an option to use a profile for stringers.  Open the family and copy the profile into a generic profile - a structural framing element profile won't work.

But you can't place stringers under the treads/risers only to the side of the stairs!

Sorry, my bad - didn't note that you were referring to carriages.  You are correct, you can't use a profile for a carriage.  I normally use the railing option that you noted already, with balsusters for the tread supports but using independant structural beams is just as feasible.
