Revit Schedules

Couple of quick questions regarding Revit scheduling:

1. Why can't schedules be sorted in the project browser like every other view?

2. Why can't you print schedules directly without exporting to Excel or something first?

3. Why can't we access the results of formulas used in a schedule and use them elsewhere? Saw another post with a similar question.

4. Why are we limited to single line text when editing a schedule? If I type in a description for something and I want to edit it, I have to either scroll over until I reach the edit point or copy and past the text into a text editor, fix it, then paste it back. It's a hassle.

5. Why do I have to use a 3rd party plugin to enable bi-directional import/export with Excel? It seems like such a trivial thing to have this functionality built-in. Autocad can do this natively, why not Revit?

schedule views in the project browser are sorted in alphabetical order...try going into the Browser Organization Panel to adjust the visibility and sorting

because it's a database view...you can place the schedule on the sheet and print the sheet which shows the schedule view

This is on the wish list and development is looking into ways of adding this functionality.

This is another one that development is looking into. Keep in mind, Revit is a data base and plugging in code is not as easy as it sounds. One thing I have learned since I started supporting Revit here at Autodesk is how intertwined the code is. Changing one thing has an effect on so many others. 

Hopefully development will make changes to the above in a future release.

For #1

You can name the schedules in the way you want to sort them, then adjust the "title" within the schedule to look how you want on the sheet. This gives you a bit of sorting power. At least until things are developed a bit more on that front.

To do it, rename the schedule as you would like it to be sorted.

Then within the schedule, select the title cell and click on the "Clear Cell" button on the ribbon.

Once cleared, you can type into the title cell and it will not effect the schedule name.

Regarding printing of schedules. You can use the plugin Reports to print the schedules and save to PDF or Word.
