Revit: Put Door deeper into Wall thickness

I know this should be an easy one but I cant seem to find an easy answer

the wall is a generic wall with no multiple construction

Create an instance offset parameter from the door to the host wall. If you open an OOTB commercial or residential door family you will see the parameter is built-in.

You have to create a new parameter , preferable an Instance parameter that controls the position of the door within the host wall..

I've attached two of my door families that have this parameter.

One of it is a change made to a door gathered from internet, the other one more simplified created by scratch..

Why don't you just create a host wall for the Door? Basically, model it the way it will be constructed in the real world.

Another way if you don't want to mess with the door family parameters:

- create a curtain wall type, set it to auto embed

- place a curtain wall of that type in the wall and it will cut the wall, set the curtain wall to match the door dimensions, change the curtain panel to a basic wall type

- you can move the curtain wall freely within the thickness of the wall

- host the door on the panel wall

Constantin I went through the parameter inset and I had to amend the sketch as the door itself and swing were too long after I amended the inset depth but it seemed to affect all the doors - I am not sure i did this properly is there a point by point instruction somewhere?

sorry also my door does not have this parameter in the family editor

• the inset parameter has to be Instance in order to can be different from one door to another
• the inset parameter it's not an OOTB one . It has to be created by you - as I shown in the attached screencast
