Revit phases

Hello guys i have been working in large project remodeling and addition residential project. I start the project using phase with the existing house. Later during the design process and changing design option etc. I lost track of the phases and now everything is a mess. Is anyway to export or just save the as-built (existing phase) as a separate file and star over clean? I just need to recover the starting model and forget the demo phase and new phase.

Did you start the project by modeling the existing condition, or was it provided to you?  Sounds like you started it. If that's the case, then maybe a backup exists.  Have you checked those? Other than that, it hard to advise you without knowing more about how you messed up.

Hello Barth, yes i started the model of the existing house a few months ago so the back ups already are to new to go back. The mess is because during de remodeling and design base you start moving walls that are existing instead of demolishing or start creating new walls on the wrong phase etc. I just wish it would be a tool to export the phase existing and discharge any other change made. That would be a great improvement if does not exist.

You can get there if you are 100% certain that the existing phase is accurate. Sounds like you are not.

I don't know.  I don't think anybody could advise you.  We have no intimate knowledge of how you made your "mess".  Know what I mean?

Thank you Barth, the problem is not really the mess i did. The problem is that the phases option on revit does not allow you to roll back or save independently phase. I just wish it would be some tools to do that.

As Barth says, it sounds like you have made the "Existing Phase" inaccurate as well, as you've said you moved existing walls to new locations rather than demoing and putting a new wall, which is the correct way to do it.

I think your best bet is to go to a view with the existing phase only visible, and fix the errors. After that, if I were you, I would pin all of the existing elements so you don't inadvertently make the same mistake again.

Let's clarify something. When you say "Phase Option", you don't mean "Design Option" by chance; do you?  "Phase Option" is not a thing.

I don't understand how you can pass blame on to the program for your OIE. Sure, you could eliminate all the new work and the demo but you messed up the existing. Revit is pretty good at some things but I'm afraid magic isn't one of them.

Did you delete existing elements instead of demolish them?

maybe just maybe some critics to the software won't damage its reputation. After all, there is always room for improvements and that suggestion maybe a great improvements for the software.

If you want to critique the software, go to the Product Feedback page. If you want to try to improve the software, go to the IDEAS forum. If you want to learn how to avoid making messes, stop blaming the software and develop new workflows by asking how to avoid such mistakes.

Set up a couple views and filter out everything but your new and demo work to make selection easy.
