Hello there,

I was just updated our material library and i was wondering if i could add a parameter with a value to ant material?

Like for a Gypsum board how much it cost or how much Gypsum is on one pallet for deliveries. So that i can make a standard schedule for transport.

Just look at the attachment.

Sincerely,

Robert Kok

I am not sure I understand the question. Materials already have a Cost parameter added to them. Your image shows it filled out with a cost.  So what is the question here?  Yes you can (and it does by default) have a cost parameter for a material.

Hello Jeff,

I understand there is already an parameter for 'cost', which i also filled in.
But my true question is if there is any possibility for making an new parameter (like the parameter 'cost') whit another value.

i hope i have been clear enough right now.

Yes you can add NEW parameters to a material. You can do it via a Project Parameter or Shared Parameter.

These parameters added this way will not show up in the Material Browser Identity tab (like the default parameters do). But will only be visible when you create a schedule. So you can't really "pre-populate" them with values. You have to schedule them in order to have access to a field where you can input a value. You could schedule them in advance in a template file and then just delete the schedule in the template, this would leave the values behind.

Hello Jeff,

I already had this solution for when its not possible to make a parameter which shows up in the material browser.

I was just wondering if it was possible to add parameters in the material browser.

Now i know that its not possible to add parameters to the material browser, thanks for that.
