Hi guys,
I'm trying to work out whether I can link house models into a site master plan in the correct position using Revit LT. Revit LT does not have the shared coordinates option. I can link files from project base point to project base point. What I've tried;
- Set project base point for the site model to a particular corner of the overall site boundary
- Set correct true north for the site model
- Get coordinates for the corners of the individual lots (e.g. Lot 1, NS -10,000 and EW -10,000), reporting the coordinates relative to the project base point of the site model
- Go to house model;
- House is modeled with corner of lot boundary on the internal origin point of the Revit File. By default, the survey point and project base point are also on the internal origin
- I set the True North rotation for the house model based on what it should be in the Site Model
- I then move the project base point away from the lot corner by the coordinate values obtained from the site model for the corner of the lot (e.g. Lot 1, NS -10,000 and EW -10,000)
- Save house model
- Go to site model;
- Link house model file, select Auto - project base point to project base point
- The house appears with it's base point lined up to the site model base point, and is the right XY distance away from the base point (because I used the coordinates given by the site model) but the linked model does not appear to import the True North direction.
It seems that when you link a revit model in LT, it ignores the True North position from the file I imported and there's no option to use the True North position in the settings of the linked file.
I've search the internet and youtube to see if someone has created a guide for how to accomplish this as a workaround in Revit LT, but so far I've found nothing - so I'm asking you guys!
I'd like to see if I can get this to work, because I would rather do it this way then manually positioning and rotating the linked house files in the site model.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
