Revit LT and textures reading

Hi!

I am still quite new to Revit so my question might be basic.

How does textures in materials work?

For example I created a project where I defined new material and added custom texture downloaded from the internet. Texture files were on my desktop at the time of adding them to materials.

After project was finished I moved my Revit file to one folder and textures to another.

When I opened my Revit project again all custom textures were gone and only after I put them back to desktop project started reading them again.

So the question is can I save those textures inside of Revit project? So if I send this project file to someone else he can open a project and have all the textures inside. Or do I have to send texture files always with Revit file? Cant texture files be imported and embedded in Revit project files like family files are?

You can use Transfer Project Standards to transfer Materials from one Project to another...

You can Share Materials and Material Libraries (ADKLIB)...

Couple of other suggestions:

Place your new/custom Render Appearance Image files in the "Mat" subfolder (i.e. "1", "2" and "3") located under C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures. This is the default "go-to" folder.

and/or:

Add Additional Render Appearance Paths:
