Revit is not Responding When I Opening a FIle

Hi to all,

I'm in trouble with a project with revit 2025.
I've some problems to open a model made by my collegues.
We have three different model and with two I don't have any problems , 120Mb each, and 1of 80mb revit not responding.
I've already tried to update the grapich schede, unistall Revit and re-installed, update windows. I also disabled revit's hardware accelerator.
The computer has the requirements to open this file. The model in object is not a central and a guy who work with me with the same computer has not problem during the opening.

So, please, can someone tell me what I've to check on my computer to resolve?

Many thanks.

Make sure the check the Audit box when opening the file.

What exactly happens when you open the file?

It loads the model up to 8%, then after it seems to have finished loading it, the project browser and the properties browser appear without loading their content.
I attach a photo to make you understand.

Is it a work shared model? If yes

  • if hosted on ACC or BIM360, clear the collaboration cash
  • if hosted on a local server, delete your local copy and create a new one

Also consider looking into the following:

  • make sure you all have the same build number
  • make sure you all have the latest Desktop connector

The model is located on our internal server but the problem remain if I save it on local hardisk.
is it a detached model without preserved worksets.
is it very weird because I've this kind of problem with just this on model.

Can you log in to your computer using a different window user? or ask a collegue to do so...

Once on a new windows user, open a revit session using ur Autodesk ID and try to open that file then, would it open or also hangs.

did you use the Add-Ins ?

check the C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2025

and try to move not Autodesk Add-Ins to another folder.

delete all journals file:

C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2025\Journals

delete all your Temp files:
Press Win + R, type %temp%, and delete the contents of the Temp folder.

restart your computer and try again.

I tried even that way but it still doesn't open it. I think in that model there is something in the script that it carries that my computer can't process. I honestly don't know what to do anymore except to format the computer

Thanks for that advice as well, I tried both systems and moreover I also did the clean uninstall suggested by Autodesk but the problem is still there.

Probably we have found the problem it is about an error with SQLLocalDB 15.0.  Do you know hot to resolve ?

@R_BOSIO

Where did you pick up that error? in windows event viewer of the Revit Journals?

How to resolve depends on what is causing the error. You can start with

  • running Revit as  administrator and then try open the file (to rule out the cause due to permissions/user policies set on ur machine)
  • check if that related version from the errors is installed the first place (see below - run as admin in cmd prompt) If MSSQLLocalDB or AutodeskRevitLLC15.0 does not appear in the list, it means SQL LocalDB is either missing or not properly installed.
  • if it is installed try to restart the SQL Local DB (see below - run as admin in cmd prompt)
  • if it is not listed try to repair or install the latest SQL Server Express LocalDB

sqllocaldb versions

sqllocaldb stop "AutodeskRevitLLC15.0"
sqllocaldb delete "AutodeskRevitLLC15.0"
sqllocaldb create "AutodeskRevitLLC15.0"
sqllocaldb start "AutodeskRevitLLC15.0"

Hi all,

I'm experiencing the same situation.
Have a new Laptop, and cannot open same files I open on other laptop - from local drive, in both situations.

Any development on this issue?

Same thing here. Cannot open files that were developed with a specific template. I get the same problem, the screen appears blank and no error is shown.
