Revit Image Reference

Good day,

I'm modelling an old and outdated existing site. I am just drawing basic figures with annotations/descriptions for many of the objects. It would be nice to link real site image "shortcuts/buttons" which can be linked to a family or point on the site, so that when you click it you can see a real image of the area.

Is this possible and if so, how?

Thanks,

Connor

Are the images to be stored in the project or externally?

You could create an annotation family which contains an image parameter.

Or you could create an annotation family that includes an URL parameter, and then create a tag for it that includes the URL. You can then make a PDF of the site plan, which has live hyperlinks to the photos.

Kind regards,
Ian

Ideally one would want the images to be embedded in the project file, so that whoever opens the project has direct access to the image. However the folder containing the images can be sent with the project file need be.

I tried to create a Generic Annotation Family, where I added a Type Image Parameter, and loaded an image. I also loaded a symbol for the annotation. I then loaded this into my project, but I couldn't figure out how to display the image? From what I could read up this will only display in schedules? Or will I be able to access this in a PDF sheet?

The PDF with the URL's sounds fancy, could I link a local file as a URL then?

By the way I looked at your link for the Bimscape beginners guide, and it looks incredible. I will definitely work through it when I have the time!

You will need the image parameter to be an "Instance" parameter- that way you can have a different image per family instance- which is what you need to do. With a Type parameter, you will be stuck for one image for the whole of that family type?

You can prodcuce a schedule with the embedded images in it and put that on a sheet- make a PDF?

Kind regards,
Ian
