Revit IFC Export and Import Families/Type and Parameters lost?

Hi,

I export IFC from Revit, then I open the IFC in Revit.

The Type Properties of the model is lost and the families and type in the project browser is changed too?

How can I retain these information for export and import IFC in Revit?

How does it work? Did I miss anything?

Please Help...

Things change, because the IFC is no longer a Revit file. The basic information about the element is transferred to the IFC Parameters. Scroll down in the Type properties window to see those values.

Is there any way that I can map it back to Revit Parameters? and retain the Native Families and Type?

It is possible to add values to the parameters of these elements in the IFC elements, and but not to retain the values that were lost in the conversion. I don't know if it is possible to map a list of values from the native Revit into the equivalent IFC elements.

Hi

Regarding this - As it seems that family types are lost in the conversion, does this mean it is general practice to export a seperate IFC file for each of your Family types?

There is no way to open a single IFC files and flex the model by changing types?

Many thanks,

Callum
