Revit gpu usage and benchmark

Hello,

I was wondering which gpus do accellerate the use of revit with regard to fluid/fast rotation of the 3d model, zooming/panning in 1 viewport.

With my computer and revit project i noticed that viewing the 3d model in hidden line/shaded/realistic with or without shadows its becoming slow.

Now there is a benchmark called RFO:

https://www.revitforum.org/hardware-infrastructure/35955-rfo-benchmark-v3-1-a.html

This benchmark will show you the results of some tests which measures cpu, ram and gpu for model creation and graphic behavior.

The results can be posted here:

https://www.revitforum.org/hardware-infrastructure/35956-rfo-benchmark-v3-1-2018-results.html

What i have seen is that even with a budget quadro card or gtx1050, revit is much more fluid when viewing large models in 3d views.

I use an intel hd4600 with the i7-4790K and although model creation is fast (because of the high ipc) the behavior in views is rather slow because of the slow gpu.

If i read the numbers correctly, even with a gtx 1050 the behavior in views should be 4x faster.

So i made a little comparison in excel between different systems. Note: smaller numbers means faster.RFO.jpg

Hi @hve-architecten

I'm not quiet sure what your question is here as it sounds like you have already done a lot of work in comparing GPUs and have the results showing what's quicker and what's slower.

Revit will run better and smother in high end professional graphic cards and slower on integrated graphics.

If you want a list of graphic cards please see this page to find a list of all supported graphic cards:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534

This is just supported graphic cards as Revit will run on a lot more without issue.

Hi Mark,

I hope with this post that more people are using these kind of tools to measure their computer system to show what works for revit and what not.

The reason for the excel file is that we need an investment because our projects are becoming bigger and thus more taxing for the computers.

There are no RFO benchmarks out there with quadro p400/600/1000 cards. So we can't compare those with other cards.

So i hope that readers will run these RFO benchmarks.

Now i see that there are more benchmarks which show quadro p400/600/1000 cards:

https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Revit-2017-2-Quadro-GPU-Comparison-960/

These results show the difference between igpu and the above cards.
