Revit Generic Model Adaptive - Cannot Change Category to Lighting Fixtures

Hi Masters of Revit -

I want to create a Lighting Fixture family with the adaptive family template so that I can perhaps make the fixture aiming process more comfortable. However, using the Autodesk/Revit provided 'Generic Model Adaptive (Revit 2020)' template, the 'Lighting Fixtures' category is missing from the options.

Does anyone know if this is intentional and why? Is there a workaround or should I just give up and try to do this with parameters and scripting.

Thanks,

Faye

In your case, the Generic Model Adaptive family acts as a container (parent). You model the Lighting Fixture using the lighting fixture template then you nest that as a shared family into the Generic Adaptive. This way it would schedule under LF category yet its placement is adaptive
