Revit Filters Not Applying to Linked Model Elements

I have a model that is a structural build of an existing hospital and has 3 other models linked to it for the various additions over the years.  I am trying to apply filters so that each addition's structure and grids get a color for ease of coordination.  The filter works fine on the elements within the model itself but not on any linked model elements.  The filter is rule based and is as follows:

Since it uses the "Workset" parameter, there should no issue of this translating to linked models.  I've done this before with linked MEP models to control some of the ductwork colors in our coordination views.  Is there anything that would stop this filter from working?  I have no view template or view overrides assigned in the view other than the filters in question.  I can't share the file as it's too large and contains proprietary information.  Thanks.

Does the workset containing "EAST" only exists in the linked model and not in the host model where the filter is defined?

Well that doesn't work unfortunately , I wish it did, would save a lot of time.

For this to work the Workset (whole name) you need to filter on also needs to exist in the host model, I sometimes add a workset to the host model so I can filter on a workset in a linked file, but only if it's 1 or 2 workset, more will become unmanageable (and also depends on the workset name).

So each model has a workset with "EAST" as part of the name.  I created a new workset that was named the exact same as one in a linked model and it was still not overriding the elements.  One thing I did find out was that "_" was counted against me in my rules so even if I put "EAST" it wouldn't recognize it.  That fixed only the elements within the model like grids but the linked elements are still not overriden.

Colour filters are overcomplicated in Revit as they are very specific. Love Autocad for assigning a single colour to all elements in a particular link. Revit does not do that in a simple way!
