Revit Fatal Error - Please help

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have been working on revit for 3 years now. I'm in my final year of architecture about to submit my final project, however whatever I do on my file this fatal error message keeps coming up. "A fatal error has occurred. The application will be terminated. You have the opportunity to save recovery files of your changed projects."  Here's what I've done.

1) I've tried clearing the errors in the project

2) Went to the previous file before it starts crashing, the message pops up every time i try to do the slightest thing like editing a floor

3) Reinstalled revit

4) Updated my laptop to the latest update

5) I've tried starting a new file, I can't work for a whole 3 minutes without this message coming up

Can someone advise me on what the problem is? Clearly it's not the file I'm working on, I'm running out of ideas, please.

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thank you for posting to the forum.  I'll be glad to help.  What version of Revit are you working in?

There can be many potential causes/solutions.   Here are some articles related to that error.

Have you already tried these options?

Revit displays fatal error message opening a project

Error: "A fatal error has occurred. The application will be terminated." while using an Autodesk product

If this does not lead to a solution, If you have access to another computer, Does the same fatal error happen on this file performing the same actions?
Have you tried opening with Audit?   Once it opens, what actions are taken just before the crash?

Please attach a Revit journal file.

Thank you for your recommendations.

I did all the updates associated with revit

  1. Revit 2018.3.3 security fix
  2. Autodesk hotfix

The problem wasn't with the file, it was with revit, and that solved it.
