revit families

when i try to change the width of teh bifold door the wall doesnt comply to it. so i tried to edit it in family editor. But when I add dimenions to flex it it doesnt allow me to add dimensions. the pictures below show my issue better. pleas help.

this is thefamily . probably the cut line is not properly located in the ref plan but i dont know how to change it.

There are already many dimensions used in the family. However they have been hidden in the family editor.

You can make them visible in each view by going to "View" "Visbility/Graphics and select Annotation.

I'm not sure the originator of this family intended for you to dynamically change the size.  If they had I think it would have been built completely differently - it would be a big job to make this a fully functioning parameteric family... unfortunately I don't have the time just now to do this, sorry I can't be more help.

however teh other issue is that one of th epanels of teh bi fold door is not shown in th eproject when i import it as you can see in the image. however it is hsown in te family editor.

The parameters in the family control the visbility.

Looking at the family it is, as the name implies, a 3 panel folding door. That you see in the family four 'symbolic' panels is because the parameters used determine which 3 panels will be visible in the project. They hide the left or right panel depending on the direction of the folding.

Making a family like this that hasn't been intended to be parametric, parametric is a pretty big job. If you have no experience of creating parametric families you are going to struggle.

If you want to learn this stuff you really need to start with the basics and work up from there - start with building a framework of reference planes and control them with parameters then add in geometry and build from there. You should also look at the concept of nested families and linked parameters - this is one of the most useful things I've learnt about families over the years.
