Revit display satellite terrain imagery with DWG link file

I prepared a DWG with a satellite image to link into Revit.

Everything looks good in AutoCAD but when I link into Revit the aerial photo is not displayed, just geometry. 

I linked it in and placed it with default settings with the same unit system for all models.

I also tried different graphic settings in the view and nothing seems to work.

Is there a setting to adjust to see the photo layer of this image when it goes into  Revit?

I can say how I do it to work in my projects:

• First , I  create the 3d model with mapped image in Infraworks

• then I export model to .fbx

• then open FormitPRO and save model as .axm ( Formit native)
• open Revit and Insert Link CAD  > select the previously selected .axm file
• the 3d model with mapped image will be seen in Realistic mode and in Renderings

Interesting I'm going to try this option.

The only issue is that you have to import the AXM file instead of just linking it like a DWG.

If you want to update the site layout or reduce the Revit file size this can be an issue.

I tried your technique with the project site and it looks a lot better than the original image.

 

The file size of the AXM model import wasn't too bad, about 22MB.

I experimented with other sites and they were over 100MB inserted into Revit.

Do you have other workflows or techniques to get terrain images into Revit with Autodesk or other platforms?

I want to try other avenues to see what can work and what the options are.
