Revit crashes applying color schemes

Hello!

I'm running latest version of Revit 2022.1.1. I noticed that my projects crash when I try to apply color schemes on rooms. It also shows weird hatching I didn't apply. When I try to save the project it says operation impossible because color scheme is being calculated.

Doesn't look like it crashed. 😉 I see a patterned color fill. Post a screenshot of your Color Scheme dialog box.

...do you actually have a bunch of Rooms?  In the Phase?  And you are applying a Color Scheme by Room Names?

You can post your file for testing if you want.

Same problem over here. I have to deactivate the color legend to work on the view, and then turn it back on for printing... Any solutions found yet??

Working in version 2024, and this is still an issue. I can usually get around it by turning color schemes on after placing all my rooms, but that doesn't always work either. Hoping Autodesk will look into this bug.

Workshared model?

If so try if recreating the local helps, and/or auditing the central or project file itself if not workshared.

Yes, it is a workshare model. When the problem arises, I can find workarounds to make do as mentioned, but it's frustrating that this is a recurring issue across several Revit versions now.  It chews up valuable time when it crashes the program and causes work to be lost.

This post was more in the spirit of trying to bring Autodesk's attention to the issue rather than a quick fix. Unless your implying recreating the local solves the problem long term?

Anyways, thanks for your response. I do appreciate you taking the time.

Hi @ddillabaugh,

The colorfills not applying (or showing the magenta crosshatch calculation area) is most likely due to a issue in the local or maybe the central.

Clearing the Temp file of you're system and recreating local(s) normally helps.

If Revit crashes during applying colorfill inspect the revit journal, crashes are rare in Revit and mostly caused by third party addins or installation/hardware issue. Sometimes the combination of addins can cause this.

Also, does this happen on multiple systems or just one, and with all/multiple project of just a few?

All updates Win/Revit up to date?

Thanks, I'll look into cleaning up temp files next time I run into this.

This has happened on every project in every workplace I've worked at. I've had this experience with color schemes at least a handful of times on any given project.

It's possible I've got my terminology wrong when I say it's crashing Revit. What happens is the screen gets a white overlay and I'm prompted to A: wait for the program to respond, or B close the program. Typically, if I have to wait more than 10 mins I close the program. (this is normally the case for color scheme issues)

Yes, everything is up to date according to desktop connector. I don't believe I have any add-ins installed at the moment.
