Revit Compatibility with Dell XPS 13 Intel HD 620

Hello,

I'm a civil engineer, at work most of the time I use Excel, Word and AutoCad .I have a PC with a dedicated graphic card and high specs so there's no problem using my PC for high performance tasks. Also, I used to work with a MacBook Pro, but only for light programs (Excel 2016 on Mac OSX sucks).

I'm planning to take some courses on Revit software and I needed something light and portable (like the MacBook Pro) to work while traveling, in meetings or conferences, that's why I bought the new Dell XPS 13, it came with these specs:

  • 7th gen Core I7-7Y75
  • 16GB RAM
  • 256SSD
  • Intel HD  Graphics 620
  • Display at 1920x1080p with 150% scaling.

So, my question is if these laptop/ultrabook/notebook will be able to handle Revit for regular projects, something like 5 to 20 story buildings. Mainly I will use my PC to model and do the heavy tasks but I will like to use these laptop to project and edit Revit models in meetings.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Gonzalo.

It should be okay for using in your meetings. If there are some graphical issues such as menu or dialog boxes get clipped, you may want to reduce the Display scaling to 125% or 100%.

My main concern is about performance while modelling, it would be frustrating to see any kind of lag or delay while moving objects or rendering.

What do you think about using a MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Dual-core with Intel Iris graphics 540 with bootcamp?
