Revit - Civil 3D collaboration

Hi, I am still new to Revit (learning it just last few weeks, so I started with 2025 already). I have some basic knowledge in modelling. I am now trying to "connect" Civil 3D with Revit but I am stuck with trying to put Revit model in real world coordinates while following tutorials. It seems that there is no Shared Reference Point for Autodesk Revit extension available for 2025. I can see it is available for Revit 2024, but not for 2025. Is it maybe included in Revit 2025 already?

Maybe I am going the wrong way with this. Can someone please point me in the right direction, to up-to-date tutorial or anything else about this subject because all tutorials and help resources I have found mention adding that extension and using it prior to sharing surface from civil3D etc.

As I have said, maybe I am going the wrong way. I am still just exploring how I can use Revit in my Civil 3D workflow. Basically I would like to use data from Civil 3D inside Revit and the other way around. For example:

-model a culvert/bridge in Revit and use it as an object in Civil (if it is in any way possible: show it in profile view, section view etc...)

-make a railway platform in Civil 3D (corridor, extracted solid...whatever needed...), transfer it to Revit along with existing surface and continue working on that in Revit: adding ramps, stairs, poles, sheds etc... And then bringing it back again to C3D to show it in views...

 

I am still trying to find correct sources on that matter. So basically, I am asking is this even possible in Civil 3D-Revit collaboration and if it is, please point me into right direction.

You don't need an extension to coordinate the two.  Link and Share.

Thanks for reply. I have manageg to link dwg to Revit this way. Although it is not in correct position. In this help video there is no mention of elevation and rotation. I assumed that i have to input angle manually in Revit. Is that correct? I have managed to put dwg in correct X,Y position and rotation this way. But what about Z (elevation)? I am not sure why I cant get correct height. My dwg file is in correct height and I have put Revit model in correct height too. But they are not on the same level.

Also, I have linked topography from civil 3D using the similar procedure for x,y. But again i have problem with elevation. This time, toposolid is on some level below Revit model. I can't figure out why this happens.

And another question: I have all layout in one dwg file. Revit models are on different locations of the layout so they are in separate files. If I want to link dwg layout to Revit files, i need to have separate dwg files for each Revit model? Because for every revit model there is a different referenc point for linking and i can't have multiple reference points in one dwg files, correct?

Read it and do everything in your example file. Once you've done that, delete everything and read the PDF again and do everything once more. When you've finished with that, delete everything and read the PDF once more and do everything again.

Hi,

 

Revit 2025 does have the Shared Reference Point extension, but it is not included by default—you need to download and install it separately from your Autodesk account. Once installed, it works just like in 2024, allowing you to link Civil 3D and Revit coordinates via XML or shared points.

 

For a more automated workflow, you can also use AutoBRIDGE, a Revit add-in that:

 

  • Reads alignments, profiles, and surfaces directly from an active Civil 3D file.
  • Places Revit elements (tunnels, bridges, corridors, platforms) in real-world coordinates automatically.
  • Updates Revit geometry whenever the Civil 3D data changes, saving manual remodeling time.
