Revit ceiling types - possible to shade?

On my reflected ceiling plan - some ceilings are required to be shaded to show that they have batt insulation above the ceiling. Since I draw the line at using transparent filled regions for this, I would like to create a ceiling type for this. How do I get the grey fill?

Revit 2019.  A material can have two hatch patterns.  So you have the foreground pattern for the grid and the background pattern for the solid tone.

Create Parts from the ceiling, change Parts material or override graphic to solid tone and semi-transparent, set view to Show Both Original and Parts.

Idiot proof directions, please - when I convert the ceiling to parts, the parts just disappear....

Let me rephrase - i override the display of the Part, set the view to Show Both, and then all I see is the original ceiling because it hides the part

Take a bathroom break and come back for a screencast.  Meanwhile I need to go bluffing my coworkers on World Cup 2018 bets.

While you cannot give it a shade, I like to combine a pattern or two...

So you can have the regular dot texture and add in some angled lines or 45 cross patterns...

@ToanDN - didn't work for me - not sure what I missed -

1) Create Parts

2) selected part - overrode graphic display with solid fill, 50% transparency

3) view displays both

No change. ceiling looks just the same

Select both Parts and ceiling and make them 50% transparent.
