Revit assembly views moving on a sheet when the assembly is moved

Hi brains trust,

We are using assemblies here in our office to generate part drawings for cabinetry, counters, seating and other bespoke items as it is a super handy tool.

However, when the client makes changes, and the assembly gets moved within the project, the assembly viewports no longer line up with the assembly, and also move around the sheet.

Any tips apart from:

A/ moving each view back manually

B/ doing the part drawings in a separate file

The views don't move, the assembly in the view does. You have to rearrange the views on sheet. It is the same for any other types of view, not just assembly.

Yes, I understand that the assembly has moved, whilst the assembly views have not. It's pretty annoying that they aren't "glued" to the assembly they are viewing. It's such a cool tool to be able to generate plan, detail and ortho views with the click of a button, while automatically hiding all other model elements except for the relevant assembly.

Is there any way to move the views with the assembly they relate to? I have tried doing this in "edit assembly" mode, both with and without moving the origin.

If we made a scope box for the assembly, and assigned the assembly views to the scope box, would they move with the assembly if we moved both elements (assembly and scope box) at the same time?

Is that the only work around other than manually moving the assembly views to line up with the new position of the assembly?

I have tested the scope box method - the views stay aligned to the assembly scope box, but still move on the sheet, even when pinned. So annoying.

cONCUR, I thought I found the solution but its very annoying that the view is not locked to the assembly. Please fix this error, the cost of the software is too high for the amount of redundant work we have to do. Please save us some time = $.

True, but this is not a solution. The views need to lock to the assemblies, re-aligning them is time consuming and a waste of time because this is something the computer should automate.

I suggest you to copy the assembly to the new place you want it to be, then delete the original the assembly, this way the views should stay as they were originally made.
That's the method i'm using since i believe it's impossible to utilize the move tool without losing the views alignement.

Has there been a solution to this i.e. does anyone know how you can keep the assembly viewports locked to the assembly? Creating an assembly is extremely handy and time-saving but things move in projects and having to redo or move viewports when an assembly moves basically creates so much extra work. It doesn't make sense that the views can't be locked to an assembly. What's the point of the tool in that case?

Unfortunately, this behavior is not limited to assemblies. It's deep down in the core program and applies to all views. It's just the way it works. Just like any other view.
