Revit and Xenapp - Journals and Profiles

Greetings, Autodesk Hive Mind

Is there any way to customize, or set, the location of where journal files are located on a users machine? Mores specifically in the Microsoft environment.

We are embarking on a deployment of our citrix environment which for whatever reason, good or bad, will be re-creating profiles in roaming constantly as users switch in and out of servers depending on their location. This will in turn cause a huge copying data of users profiles from one state, to another. As a result this will copy journal files, as well revit files (if applicable), and we are concerned about a undesirable growth in storage/data.

What say you, experts? Can it be done? Or should we just write a file script to only copy relevant data?

Regards,

Thank you for your post.  It looks like you would like to set up a custom location for the Revit journal files for your users within the citrix environment (and roaming profiles within Windows).  In this case the location for the users profile in the appdata folder is by default and as-designed.  Now on the other side, you may be able to customize windows to allocate a separate location to look for, but again by default and as-designed, Revit places the journals in the users appdata location purposely.  We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as you configure the system for work within your environment.  If there is anything else we can help with in the community or support, please just let us know and we would be happy to help wherever possible.  Thank you again.
