My company is starting to use two applications:

1) Arkio

2) The Wild

Both have different functionality depending on your end goal. Arkio can host Meetings for collaboration and is nice for modelling in 3D inside VR.  The Wild has limited modeling functions, but is much easier to use for meetings. It has been more intuitive to learn the controls.  Both applications require subscriptions though.

Short answer: "Yes, but-"

As @andybrack has mentioned, VR services exist for this type of application. They nearly universally require subscriptions to operate. You may need to do independent review to see if trial versions exist, or if any of these products partner with educational services for reduced subscription rates / collaborations.

There's also the question of what you actually want to showcase to your students. If you're doing physical walkthroughs of a site you may need to pull the model into a secondary software in order to define things like physical barriers, walkable surfaces, etc. before putting on a headset.

I know relatively nothing about VR, but this was my starting point for any in-company discussions on what 'can' be done, not necessarily the optimal or detailed method to do so.

I would assume that each vendor would have tutorials available, not sure if they would be generally free to view or part of the subscription package.

Looking through these presentations should also give you an idea of which VR tools exist on the marketplace, though this is by no means comprehensive.

Yes, Arkio and The Wild both have the ability to import Revit files. They both have plugins that get installed to push the model from the Revit desktop software. Here are the websites. Help pages are available on each site that describe their workflows.
