Revit 3D to 2D

I have a recurrent problem in Revit which I can’t solve. I am wondering if you can transform 3D view into a 2D one. I am working at some custom made furniture models and I need to add axonometric views with dimensions on layouts.  I can make the 3D or Camera view but can’t add proper dimension on it.

I was an Archicad user until recently and I know you can do this very easily using the 3D Document function.

Also I find the fact that you cannot convert 3D model into 2D annoying, it is very necessary in detailing. May be there is a way and I couldn,t find it, please help.

What format do you need?  DWG or PDF?

You could just set your sheets up and then print to pdf.

I want to transform the furniture 3D into linework in order to add dimensions and tags.

It is not helpful for me to export it into PDF format.

I think there is a way by exporting the Revit 3D into Dwg file and after that transforming it into 2D in Autocad.

But I don't know for sure if I can add proper dimensions in this way and also is quite time consuming.

Yes you can add dimensions to it....as long as you modeled it to scale.

EXPORT > CAD FORMATS > DWG

Do that once you have placed your annotated views on sheets and it is a fairly automated process.

And if it isn't to scale you can always scale it in autocad.

Yess, I have the 3D view and the drawing at the right scale, but unfortunately I can't add the proper dimensions.

I can add one or two but for the rest of them I can't properly snap the dimensions on the model, it is quite annoying.

Maybe I do not understand your problem too well , but if you want to to dimension a 3D view as a 2D axonometric View , you can do it by locking the 3d View and then using Set Work Plane > Pick a Plane , create the possibility to use dimensions.......

You can export it out as a dwg and dimension it in autocad as well.
