Revit 3D glitch with Topo & lighting. What is this issue from?

Hi All, 

I've been dealing with this 3D glitch within Revit for a year now and have been unable to resolve it, both Revit LT 23 & 24 are plagued by it. It has severely impacted my design process & production that I will be offering a cash reward or hourly pay to anyone who can help me fix this. Seriously... 

The issue is present in the 3D model when I have the realistic setting on (it happens in others as well, but I use realistic view 99% of the time.). What happens is about every 3-5 minutes, my topo or filled region component will turn black. Occasionally, all topo objects turn black and the lighting in the scene blows out. See the images below as an example. 

Image #1 shows the filled region in black, lighting is fine.

The only way I can fix the black topo or exposure problem is either by saving, adjusting the section box, or alternating between some other pages. The easiest is adjusting the section box in 3D. This is incredibly frustrating as you are designing or presenting a project. Additionally, when I go to print my project pages to PDF, I literally have to go to each page and each view and fix the graphical issue before printing that page individually. This takes me about 15-20 minutes to print a project. 

This happens to both my PC and Laptop. 

I have removed Revit and reinstalled the entire suite on both computers, but the same thing happens. I have re-formatted my laptop and reinstalled everything, but it still happens. 

I have updated my video drivers and have used at least 10 different drivers over the past year, on both the laptop and PC. No change. 

I just downloaded Revit Lt 24 and even in the sample file without me adjusting any settings out of the box, I still have the issue. 

I think the obvious issue is the graphical nature of it all. On both the laptop and PC, I have AMD CPUs and Nvidia GPUs. They literally crush in every other field. 

Hardware acceleration on or off doesn't make a difference. 

I thought maybe my template had a family or something that altered Revit in some way, but as I mentioned, with Revit Lt 24 in the sample project without adjusting any settings it still happens. 

If anyone has ever encountered this issue, please let me know. I'm at a loss for how to fix it and it needs to be fixed! 

Is there any known conflicting software with Revit?

Hard to know. Post the file here for us to look at.

There's no need to do that as it is a general Revit issue for me, not just the file. I assume it's some setting I have that's causing the glitch, or that I have a common program on both computers that are somehow interfering graphically. There has to be someone out there that has dealt with this previously.

Can you send me the model?

I would like you to do this simple test: Cut the objects and paste them into a brand-new file created from the out-of-box template. Do not use your template, and do not copy\paste. Cut and paste. Will the issue occur in the new file?

Hi Basam, 

Yes, this is something I have done already. In fact, I installed both Revit LT 2023 & 2024 and immediately opened the sample file from Autodesk and it still happens. Any file with topography and a sub-region glitches out on me. Happy to connect virtually to showcase this. 

I just spent another two hours switching on and off settings to cover all of my bases. Nothing fixes it.

The issue revolves around certain stable materials in Revit that are provided and some that are self-made. I am able to fix my issue by finding a stable alternative material and duplicating the material with the texture I want. 

Not sure why it happens, but the fix works.

This glitch still seems to be active, but the marked solution worked

This kind of issues is usually related to a distant 'internal origin' point. How far is the building from the internal origin? (not base point. not survey point).
