Revit 3D Data to MVR

Hello - I am a theatrical lighting designer who uses Revit as our main design software for easier integration with other consultants via ACC, as we mainly focus on installations within permanent entertainment venues. The other side of our company focuses on temporary installations such as shows, concerts, and festivals, and uses Vectorworks as their medium of design, which allows them to export MVR files directly into lighting control software for direct 3D visualization.

Previously, we have used Vectorworks as an intermediary between Revit and the lighting control software to create these MVR files, which essentially doubles the work we have already done in Revit. We are currently exploring a more direct approach from Revit to MVR, which would include family and 3D data that could be directly imported into the lighting control software and cut down on time spent in our workflow.

Wondering if anyone here has experience with this or has experimented similarly and could point me in a more calculated direction to find a solution.

Thank you!

@brendan8F7SW, you unfortunately found your way into the Revit Ideas forum and not the Revit Architecture forum.  Although your post has Idea written all over it, I think you meant this for the general forum...  BUT I would highly recommend you remove the last part and ask for the export capability that you want in Revit and post it as a new idea for that.

In the meantime, @kimberly_fuhrman-jones, could you please move this over to the general Revit forum since he can't edit his idea here, it should go over there and then a new idea made here I'm thinking.

For calculations within Revit you could use Elumtools.

Not sure what the purpose of an MVR file is to be honest. If it's for proprietary software the dev team for that software needs to write a Revit plugin to extract the data from the model.
