Why don't you do it by Sketching Boundary? Sketch mode has Offset and Pick Walls tools. You can TAB to select multiple Walls.

The "specific distance" that you underlined in one of your screen captures refers to a vertical distance, not to a horizontal distance. If you do need an offset from walls, then you need to draw the ceiling by sketch using an offset value and the pick lines tool to select edges of walls.

If the offset distance is the thickness of the wall finish then use Pick Wall and tick Extend to Wall Core box.

My inquiry here is related to the way the distance from the wall face and ceiling edge is specified by default. Is there any control setting for this default distance (screenshot 3)?

Start a New Project using your go-to Template (RTE), set the desired Ceiling Height Offset From Level Default value and then Save As Template and overwrite your go-to Template.

@JamaL9722060

Again, the "specific distance" that you underlined in one of your images is a vertical distance. Not an offset from face of wall. There is no default setting for an offset, unless you enter that number in the Offset option, and then use Pick Lines to sketch the ceiling.

This is the same question, asked twice, answered twice.

From the resposnes, it appears that there is no way to control this distance

You can with Offset.

...if you want to offset an existing ceiling, Edit boundary, pick the Offset tool on the Modify tab, enter an offset distance and deselect "copy" on the Option Bar, and then TAB select the boundary linework.

It seems that the red line shown when using the "automatic ceiling" tool is visually shifted but is physically aligned with the edge of the wall. Is that correct?
