Revit 2023 / Autodesk Connector Error after patch

Updated revit with the most recent patch to Version: 23.1.1.24 - 20221114_1515(x64) - 2023.1 and immediately began getting Autodesk Desktop Connector error messages.

Error.jpg

I went and verified there were no updates (There were not).

I downloaded the newest version anyway and reinstalled it (It did not help.)

Best I can tell, is that the paths are broken for CAD linked files.

Before it used to say "Autodesk Docs://~path~"

This path wont load, and when I re-path to the file after opening and clicking through the error message, it replaces it with "C:\Users\david\ACCDocs\~rest of path~" then loads correctly.

This is problematic as there are multiple users in our office and the other users can not access my C drive obviously.  As a work around we can temporarily relocate these cad files to our local server.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

I am seeing the same (or very similar) issue after updating to 2023.1. Both the installed version of ADC and the current installer on manage.autodesk.com are 15.8.0.1827.

The Manage Links dialog still shows paths starting with "Autodesk Docs://..." but all linked files other than RVTs show "Not Found" in red in the Status column. In my case that would include images, PDFs and DWGs.

I can browse to these files in Windows Explorer, but something is broken with Desktop Connector in Revit.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We can confirm there is an issue with Revit 2023.1 and the version of the Desktop Connector API currently being used.

A fix for this issue is currently in progress and we will update this thread as additional updates are available.  We will also document a process for restoring Desktop Connector functionality in Revit 2023.1 until that update is released, and include those steps here.

Thank you again.

I also got this issue , here's the response I got from Autodesk when I contacted support, it fixed the problem.

The following process can be used to restore functionality for Desktop Connector in Revit 2023.1 until then:

  1. Close Autodesk Desktop Connector if it is currently running.
  2. Close Revit 2023.1 or Revit LT 2023.1.
  3. For Revit 2023 browse to %ProgramFiles%\Autodesk\Revit 2023\AddIns\ConnectedDesktop\ and for Revit LT 2023 browse to %ProgramFiles%\Autodesk\Revit LT 2023\AddIns\ConnectedDesktop\
  4. Rename the Autodesk.DesktopConnector.API.dll file to Autodesk.DesktopConnector.API.dll-temp.
  5. Paste in the attached file "Autodesk.DesktopConnector.API.dll". (They sent me a link, I've downloaded it and had to zip it to upload here)
  6. For Revit 2023 browse to %ProgramFiles%\Autodesk\Revit 2023\AddIns\SiteLinker\ and for Revit LT 2023 browse to %ProgramFiles%\Autodesk\Revit LT 2023\AddIns\SiteLinker\
  7. Rename the Autodesk.DesktopConnector.API.dll file to Autodesk.DesktopConnector.API.dll-temp.
  8. Paste in the attached file "Autodesk.DesktopConnector.API.dll" (same link as above).
  9. Open Autodesk Desktop Connector.
  10. Open Revit 2023.1 or Revit LT 2023.1. Desktop Connector functionality should be restored.

Hello all,

We wanted to provide an update on this issue.  An official fix has been established, and will be made available shortly as a Revit 2023.1 update.

We can also confirm the process documented above can be used for situations where an immediate workaround is necessary. If using the approach included above, it is recommended to restore the original renamed files prior to installing the upcoming Revit 2023.1 update.

We will confirm when the Revit 2023.1 update is available as well.

Thanks again,

Confirming that Revit 2023.1.1 is now available, which addresses this specific issue accessing Desktop Connector links:

Fixed an issue with Desktop Connector that would display the 'Autodesk Desktop Connector update required' dialog when adding new or accessing existing Desktop Connector links.

Hi Ryan, can you post the link to the update here? It is not on https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit/troubleshooting/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-revit-2...
or in the Desktop App.

The Revit 2023.1.1 update should be available in your Autodesk Account, All Products and Services. View Details for Revit or Revit LT, and you should see the Revit 2023.1 .1 Update or Revit LT 2023.1 .1 Update.

It should be added to the Autodesk Revit 2023 Product Updates page soon.

I am trying to install 2023.1.1 and the temp folder it is trying to access does not exist. I am searching the temp folders for RVT.msi and I can not find it. I actually scanned the entire C: drive and I still can not find "RVT.msi", or at least not for 2023 anyway.

I had a similar problem when installing 2023.1. This is how I fixed it:

  1. Go to manage.autodesk.com and login.

  2. Click "All Products and Services" in the left navigation pane, and find the "Revit" card in the main content area.

  3. Confirm it shows "2023" and click "Download".

  4. Run the downloaded .exe.

  5. This will create a folder with a bunch of stuff in it. Put this folder in C:\Autodesk.

When the 2023.1 (or 2023.1.1) installer asks for "RVT.msi", choose the one at C:\Autodesk\Revit 2023 - (EN)\x64\RVT\RVT.msi.

2023 is already installed so it will not allow me to install it again. I am going through the 2023 folder that exists and it is not in there.

You don't have to install it again, just unzip the installer stuff and put it someplace. RVT.msi is in there.
