Revit 2022.1.1 ifc export crash to desktop

Hello,

I have a problem and thats when exporting to ifc from revit 2022.1.1 it crashes to desktop (revit).

Installed ifc exporter v22.4 but the same crash to desktop happens. Consistently.

With a project we are working with multiple firms and they also are experiencing the same export to ifc problems from revit 2022.1.1.

With revit 2022.0 according to some there are no problems....

This is a very big issue!!!!!!

It looks like autodesk is deliberately avoiding answering this issue? Autodesk doesn't like ifc

I am sorry for the blame that i put on autodesk for the ifc export functionality. It appears to be the latest enscape version  which prohibits to create an ifc export in revit 2022.1.1......

So i will contact Enscape....

Firstly it's a little unfair to say Autodesk don't like IFC they have been on board with it from the beginning and were one of the first software houses to add it to the software export and import process.

Back to the problem...

I have had a similar problem on a customer site, this may resolve the problem so this may be worth a try.

  • Close Revit
  • Go to your add-ins folders and copy them
    • C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2022
    • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2022
  • Start your Revit try an IFC export.
  • if it works - shut Revit.
    • move an/some add-ins back to the original folder.
  • Start your Revit try an IFC export.
  • if it works - shut Revit.
    • move an/some add-ins back to the original folder.

Repeat until all the add-in(s) are back or you find the one that causes the problem.

In my case, this worked even with all the add-ins back in place and Revit is all ok.

Please accept the solution if it works for you,

Have a good one, Andy.

It's still partly to blame on Autodesk, because they made it possible for Add-ins to crash other add-ins. And sure, I won't blame people for making a mistake. But I do when it's been 10 years, and they still didn't fix it.

I've already contacted Enscape a month ago, even gave them fully detailed debug information, and after a month they haven't even started to pick it up:

https://forum.enscape3d.com/index.php?thread/19746-revit-crasching-when-exporting-ifc/

I have a mailbox full of angry clients, because they blame my add-in for crashing Revit. And in the meanwhile Enscape doesn't even care, because why would they. They simply put your add-in under "Enscape is incompatible with add-in xxx". You know why? Because they're a big company and they can do whatever they want.

Meanwhile i got enscape and revit 2022 ifc working again.

Took some specific steps:

1. first i deinstalled enscape

2. then deinstalled revit ifc program

3. Installed ifc for revit 22.4

4. Checked if revit could export to ifc......yes!

5. Installed enscape 3.2 (latest) and still ifc functionality.

So there is still some programming to do between enscape and autodesk i guess..

Now i have a new pc and hope everything works out

We have recently been looking into this issue for one of our clients and, while it's a bit of a work around,  our awesome Design Tech Team have come up with a solution which may help those of you using AEC Collections or with access to Navisworks manage, until Enscape resolve the clash.

We opened the Revit file/s in Navisworks then used the Codemill IFC Exporter for Navisworks to export the IFC file.  Just be sure to remember to "Select all" in Navisworks before using the export tool.

Step 1: Install Navisworks Manage 2022 (if you haven’t already – part of your AEC licence)

Step 2: Download and install Codemill IFC Exporter for Navisworks

Step 3: Open Navisworks

Step 4: Append Revit Model

Step 5: Click on Select All Button – Model should turn Blue

Step 6: Navistools IFC Tab | IFC Exporter

Step 7: Schema Version IFC2X3

Step 8: Predefined Selections : Revit Category

Step 9: Export IFC (Select Folder and Name for File

Step 10: Check IFC Export in Open IFC Viewer

I hope this helps

1. Disable Enscape by moving it out of

  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2022\

2. Do an IFC Export without Enscape enabled

3. Re-enable Enscape

4. Now for me both IFC Export and Enscape work again

Thanks, but already found that "solution" except then revit 2020 failed to create an ifc.

I then deinstalled and reinstalled enscape 3.1 and everything works fine. The problem is enscape 3.2 latest version..
