Revit 2019: IFC export is empty

I'm working in Revit 2019.2 and have the IFC exporter installed.

But I'm unable to export an IFC file. The file itself gets created, but is empty (8kB)

The project I4m exporting isn't large (1 building 2 stories).

I've already tried this suggestion  https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles... But to no avail.

I've uninstalled the exporter and tried again, it worked once, but the second time I get another empty file. Restarting Revit doesn't help either.

Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm gonna bump this back to the top.

I still haven't found a cause or solution to my problem. It seems others aren't experiencing this, at least I can't find any other cases online.

Found the solution. Turns out it was an add-in created by our reseller.

They seemed to know about this problem for a while, but failed to mention it to the clients.

When we want to export IFC, we first have to move their add-in to a temporary folder.

Hi, I think I'm having the same issue but only exporting IFC4. I'm using Revit 2019.2 with the export IFC function, updated to the last version by the dev team at https://github.com/Autodesk/revit-ifc/releases/tag/IFC_v19.2.0

I have a very simple test model with 4walls, 2doors, 1window and 1slab.

Exporting in IFC4 Reference View I find a ifc file, but it shows different elements depending on the viewer I use:

- in Navisworks 2019 I have only 2walls, doors and windows. No more slab or walls not hosting openings

- in Solibri I have the building with an empty level: no components are under the Level 0

Exporting in IFC4 Design Transfer View I have:

- in Navisworks I have the exact model

- in Solibri I have the slab and the 4walls without the openings (no doors and windows)

If I export using IFC2x3 Coordination View I have no issues.

Is my issue similar to yours? Please, can you explain how you solved the problem?

Thank you!!

Hi Kimtaurus, what was the add-in that caused the problem. I am having the same issue.

Try Harry Mattison's brilliant Stantec Addins-Manager. Depending on your user rights, it may require an admin for running: https://bitbucket.org/BoostYourBIM/stantecaddinmanager/downloads/ A handy tool if you are not into file finding and renaming.
