Dividing mass surface with horizontal lines

Hi,

So I have a mass, attached. Its an organic shape drawn with a bunch of splines.

I want to divide the surface into vertical and horizontal elements to be able create regular panels. So some sort of horizontal elements in my divided surface.

This is what I'm getting if I divide my surface, a very morphed grid which wraps around my structure. This might be

because of the way my mass is drawn maybe, I don't get any horizontal lines. And to be able to wrap around my shape the back gets very dense because of the current grid.

Any ideas on how to get slices through which align with the floors? Or a surface pattern which has horizontal lines. Maybe something similar to below, i.e some regular grid like the Gherkin.

Thank You in advance :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

Draw reference planes, name them, and divide the surface by intersecting planes.

So I tried it. I drew the horizontal reference planes and named them (highlighted in yellow). But when I intersect my surface with it. This what happens. I'm not sure why? Attached file

How did you intersect the surface?

redrew them just now and labeled them again 11-17. Nothing seems to happen. And I'm getting an error message.
