Revit 2019 does not start - "DBApplication "bb3086.....cf2f" Startup failed

Symptoms

  • Revit 2018 deployment by itself - works without issue
  • Revit 2019 deployment (including several 3rd party add-ins) by itself - works without issue
  • If both of these are installed on the same machine however, I get the attached message on startup.

I found that if I comment out the DBApplication section of this file

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2019\Autodesk.Collaborate.addin

the error does not appear, but I don't know what other functionality is affected.

I've see the other suggested solutions for reinstalling Collaboration for Revit, but those articles and links are for 2015.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the link.  It seems that for this to work properly, there are 2 security fixes that need to be applied to 2018.

2018.0.3 and 2018.3.2

In addition, the 2019.1 Update needs to be applied.  For this, I would like to include it in the deployment, but I can't get it to work.  I've tried the built-in method (adding it into the deployment during the Add Updates step), and I've tried the "workaround method", which is installing it as an add-on with /q.  Neither is working for me yet.

I'm glad to know what is causing the DBApplication error, but now I need to know how to fix the deployment to resolve it.
