Revit 2019 Can't edit scope box

I have a scope box that I am unable to edit. I am looking at all my other scope boxes in 3d view and can edit them when they are not active, but this one in particular does not even show up if it is not active, and I am unable to edit any of them when they are active. it also doesn't have 'View Viability' in the properties bar, and I can't modify the name.  All others scope boxes are functioning 'Normally' but this one.  I can't even delete it.

Hi,

Maybe you have tab-selected a scope box from a link?

Could you share a snapshot of it's properties?

I thought about that, but it doesn't appear to be. It is in 2 models, because the model was split up, and the scope box went with both, but it behaves the same way in both models.

It's not a scope box you select, it's a section box (a 3D views 3D crop box)

The 3D view is propably has the scope box attached

from Revit 2019 I think, we also can crop a 3D view by a sccope box, so the Section Box and Scope Box have the same dimension.

Look at the view's propeties, what does it say at "Scope Box" property = None or a Scope box name?

Actually what you are seeing is a 3d view with the scope box assigned to it.  I have been switching back and forth between scope boxes I can modify and this one that I cannot.

This is a scope box I can see and adjust.

This is the scope box that I can not adjust.

Just a thought: Is the scope box in a workset which someone else "checked out," i.e. has made uneditable?

Anybody mention Pinning and Selection Restrictor?  Don't really think that's it , but I thought I'd lob it over anyways.

Interesting Phenom.  Keep me in the loop on this one.  Thx.

As @Redrunner92  and @barthbradley  states, it can have multiple causes.

Can you actually select the ScopeBox, the image you shared show you selected the Section Box and not the Scope Box.

The ScopeBox should also always show a name, See the 2 images below Scope Box vs Section Box.

Maybe it's in a Link.  Was that mentioned?

Hi,

Was my first thought also, but he can crop a 3D view with it.

I think getting the scopebox selected is the "real" issue, not visible in other views and using it to crop a view makes it hard/impossible to select.

No, the only time anything is visible is when I set the view to that scope box. the only thing i can select when the scope box is active appears to be identifying as a section box, but it is the scope box that is active.

Had the same issue. Turns out scope boxes were turned off in visibility graphics meaning only the section box could be selected on scene. Try changing scope box back to "none" in the properties browser, then go to visibility graphics and turning scope boxes on in view. You can then edit and drag the scope box toggles as required.

Do you have any options in the project?

I used to have the same problem since I discovered this solution

https://mgtuts.com/housing-planning/question-why-is-scope-box-greyed-out-revit.html

Reset the Crop Cregion sketch and problem solved. Your scopebox is free to change

Hi,

Were you able to solve this problem?
I have the same problem and cant find a solution to it.  I am not even able to delete the greyed scope box which shows as a section box when selected and cant be moved or edited
I think one reason could be that it got purged somehow and now it doesn't exists completely in the model

Hi,

The solution is not to have the cope box selecten in de properties. Then enable the scope box visability in the graphics override. Then you can see the scope and be able to edit it.

Good luck, Luc

This recently occurred to me and it turns out the phantom scope box was part of a design option.

I just had a scope box in a plan view that had no handles to drag.

What I found was that when I selected the scope box and looked under properties under Extents, there is a line called "Scope Box".

When I selected "None" in the drop box I got the handles back. That fixed my problem.
